The pack easily attaches to the ABS Vario base unit ( not included) , which has two deployable airbags that are designed to prevent you from being buried in an avalanche and to help you survive the fall with the snow masses with as little harm as possible. Skis can be attached to the pack using the diagonal carry system or a snowboard can be carried vertically or horizontally by the back panel system. There is also integrated ski or climbing helmet storage. There are separate compartments for your wet gear, such as skins, and for your dry gear, like clothing layers, plus a quick-access avalanche safety kit pocket with shovel handle and probe sleeves. The expansion zips add an extra ten litres of capacity to the pack when you need it and there are also zipped pockets to both sides of the hipbelt for small items that you want close to hand. The harness incorprorates a hydration sleeve with an insulated hose running through the shoulder straps that prevents your water freezing.
